Award from the Bell Tower Appeal
In May 2014 the VEHS donated £500 to the Evesham Abbey Bell Tower Appeal, and throughout the development phase of the project provided strong and sterling support to this important local heritage project. John Kyte, chairman of the VEHS, said:
“The Bell Tower is the iconic landmark of Evesham and the Vale; and the Society is pleased to be able to support this important local cause.”
The active support of the VEHS has included:
- Organised the successful (and very interesting!) Local History Day School
- Shared display space in the Riverside Shopping Centre (half dedicated to the Appeal and half displaying the VEHS WW1 exhibit)
- Supported through archive research; sharing images and material and resources.
In recognition of its strong and ongoing support, the VEHS was awarded one of the limited number of Bell Tower Awards. Here we see chairman John Kyte receiving the award at the sixth award ceremony:
