Supporting the Troops (exhibition at St Lawrence’s church)
The Great War brought a great outburst of patriotic fervour. The efforts of the civilian population – in Evesham at least as much as elsewhere – rose in support of their loved ones in the Forces, and the Allies in other countries. Much of the surge in patriotism was encouraged by the church as a deliberate means to enhance the war effort.
This was highlighted in the display in St Laurence’s Church in the Summer of 2015.
